A Distant Memory CD

A Distant Memory marked an important milestone for Darrell & Dawn as their first full-length recording together as a duo. Featuring a collection of original songs and timeless hymns, the album introduced the blend of faith, storytelling, and harmony that would continue to shape their music and ministry.
 
Several of the originals grew from very personal moments. “Soul Saved, Heaven Bound” began with a favorite Southern expression Darrell’s mother, affectionately known as Nana, would occasionally use. Darrell wasn’t convinced it would make much of a song, but Dawn thought otherwise—and after a little persistence (Darrell says "nagging"), she finally convinced him to write it.
 
“Innocent Eyes” was written for Darrell’s middle daughter, Kayla, while “Down to the River” takes a creative approach to the traditional hymn Down to the River to Pray. Using the familiar hymn verses as the chorus, Darrell & Dawn tell three very different stories, each arriving at the same conclusion: sometimes the greatest need is simply to pray.
 
Blending original music with familiar songs of faith, A Distant Memory captures the beginning of Darrell & Dawn’s recording journey together and the personal stories that have always been at the heart of their music.
